Natural water-based colorant, the binding agent of which is alkyd vegetable oil. It is well absorbed by the wood. It protects the wood from atmospheric influences by delaying the effects of humidity and sunlight. With an OP base, more durable Super Color shades are available, containing transparent pigments.
Recommended use: Suitable for exterior walls and fences, untreated or pre-treated with wood stain, wooden structures.
Feature: Suitable for exterior beam surfaces, smooth and sawn wood surfaces, impregnated and heat-treated wood surfaces, when used according to instructions.
Colors: Valtti translucent wood finishes. Can be tinted with Tikkurila translucent exterior paints.
Coverage: Sawn timber: 4–8 m2/l. Planed wooden surfaces and rough surfaces: 8–12m2/l.
Application method: brush or spray.
Drying time at 23ohWith and relative humidity 50%: The surface is dry to the touch after 2-3 hours. The next layer can be applied after 24 hours. Avoid mechanical pressure during the first few days, as the surface has not yet reached its final hardness.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Application conditions: All surfaces to be treated must be dry, with the moisture content of the wood below 20%. During painting and drying, the temperature of the air, the wood surface and the coating must be at least +5°C and the relative humidity below 80%. Working conditions are best in calm, cloudy, dry weather, with a temperature of +10 to +20°C.
Untreated surfaces: Clean the surface with a wire brush or a cycle of dirt, dust and loose material. Wash moldy surfaces with Tikkurila Homeenpoisto mold remover, following the instructions. Prime the surfaces with Valtti primer as early as possible during construction. Protect plants from splashes of primer.
Surfaces that have previously been treated with a translucent product: Remove any loose coating or blackened wood using a cycle and/or wire brush. Clean the surface and, if necessary, wash with Homeenpoisto mold remover. Prime untreated wooden surfaces with Valtti primer. If there is a clear glossy film remaining on the surface of the wood, remove it or at least sand it carefully.
Priming: All exterior wood that has not been pre-treated or vacuum-impregnated with an approved wood preservative should be primed with Valtti Primer as early as possible during construction. Apply liberally to the end cuts. To obtain an even colored surface and to avoid possible color differences, prepare a sufficient quantity of tinted Valtti Plus Color in a separate container. Stir Valtti Plus Color thoroughly before and from time to time during use. Apply Valtti Plus Color evenly and continuously along the entire length of the beam or several boards to avoid color differences from overlapping. Treat end cuts with particular care. Treat the surfaces twice, with thin layers on planed and sawn wood surfaces. Always use a tinted product for treating a new surface. Check the condition of the treated surface and apply a maintenance treatment if necessary when the colored surface begins to fade. The maintenance treatment interval is influenced by, among other things, location, sun exposure and weather conditions. Before finishing, check the condition of the wooden surface and the functionality of the structure.
Maintenance instructions: Handle the painted surface with care, as under normal conditions the product reaches its final hardness and durability in about four weeks. If cleaning is required soon after treatment, use a soft brush, mop or damp cloth to clean. A dirty surface can be cleaned at the earliest one month after painting, with Tikkurila maintenance cleaner. Stains and heavily soiled surfaces are cleaned with a suitable Tikkurila cleaner. After washing, rinse with water and leave to dry.
