Total QUARTZ 5000 15W-40 will satisfy the requirements for engine oils, both for petrol and diesel engines of passenger cars and light-duty industrial vehicles. They are intended for older turbo engines and are an ideal solution for all operating conditions of the unit (urban, motorway, high-speed, and so on), regardless of the season. It is also suitable for vehicles running on unleaded petrol or propane-butane. 5-litre can. Specifications: ACEA A3/B3; API SL/CF. Approvals: PSA B71 2295; MB-Approval 229.1; VW 501.01/505.00. What do we need to know about them? ACEA A3/B3 – the lubricants are designed for high-revving petrol or diesel engines in passenger cars. They are low-viscosity and are used at extended drain intervals if specified by the engine manufacturer. API SL – for petrol cars, an older standard from 2001. API CF – a standard from 1994. It is intended for off-road, indirect-injected and other diesel engines, including those using fuel with a sulphur content above 0.5%. PSA B71 2295 – intended for units produced before 1998 for the Peugeot and Citroën brands. The base classifications in the specifications are similar to ACEA A2/B2. MB-Approval 229.1 – for passenger cars with diesel or petrol engines manufactured between 1998 and 2002. The requirements are higher than those of the ACEA A3/B3 standards. VW 501.01 – for some VW engines produced before 2000. This is an old engine oil specification and applies only to engines produced before August 1999. After that date, the newer VW 502.00 specification is required. VW 505.00 – for those with performance level CCMC PD-2. Under SAE 15W-40 it allows a maximum of 13% evaporation loss. This is an old specification for cars before 2000. Never confuse it with 505.01! Physico-chemical properties: Viscosity grade, SAE J 300: 10W-40; Density at 15°: 888 cm3; Viscosity at 40°C, ASTM D445: 110 mm²/s; Viscosity at 100°C, ASTM D445: 14.3 mm²/s; ASTM D2270 index: 135. Advantages: Meets ACEA requirements, which guarantees the high and consistent quality of this lubricant; Versatility; High viscosity index; Excellent operational stability; Corrosion protection; Low foaming tendency; Excellent dispersant (detergent) properties.
