ORNAMENTAL TOBACCO BOTANICAL SEEDS

Ornamental tobacco seeds

Ornamental tobacco is an annual, undemanding plant originating from South America. It can reach a height of about a meter. Its botanical name is Nicotiana.

Cultivation: Ornamental tobacco likes a well-lit location and also tolerates direct sunlight. Nicotiana can also thrive in semi-shaded places (dappled shade). The soil should be light and rich in nutrients. Maintain moderate soil moisture, although the plant is drought-resistant. In our country, ornamental tobacco is grown as an annual plant because it is sensitive to cold weather. In autumn, before the frosts occur, dig up the plant and move it into a pot. This will extend its life cycle.

Propagation: Nicotiana is propagated by seeds. A suitable time for sowing the seeds is the end of March. With good care, the seeds germinate in about 2 weeks, after which they are pricked out at a distance of 4x4 cm. After the late spring frosts have passed, you can plant the plant in a permanent spot in the garden.
