Linkin Park - Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, Joe Hahn, together with the new members Emily Armstrong (from the critically acclaimed band Dead Sara) as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain (songwriter/producer for G Flip, Illenium, One OK Rock) as drummer - sharing their first all-new music in seven years.
The band joins longtime friend and host of Apple Music – Zane Lowe, for an in-depth and candid conversation about the incredible legacy of Linkin Park, their seven-year journey toward new music, and their excitement for the future. Watch the full interview HERE.
No expectations Shinoda, Delson, Farrell and Hahn quietly began reconnecting over the past few years. Rather than "trying to restart the band," their instinct tells them to simply spend more time together and reconnect with the creativity and trust at the heart of their friendship since college. During this time, they invited various friends to join them in the studio; among the guests they found a special kind of connection with Armstong and Brittain. Natural chemistry drew these musicians back as they spent more and more hours in the studio. This is the sound of longtime musicians rediscovering the unstoppable energy of a new beginning. This season gives birth to “FROM ZERO”.
Shinoda shares about the new era: "Before Linkin Park, the first name of our band was Xero. The title of this album refers both to this humble beginning and to the journey we are embarking on now. Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present and future – embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life. It was made with deep gratitude to our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family and our fans. We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and we are excited for the journey ahead.”
From the very beginning “The Emptiness Machine” embodies the essence of Linkin Park, harnessing the band's explosive energy and retaining the hallmarks of their instantly recognisable and inimitable sound. The captivating anthem with rich sonics flows from the hypnotic melodies of Shinoda to the stormy chorus of Armstrong, against a backdrop of striking riffs and dynamic drums.
Shinoda shared: “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talent, their company and the things we created. We feel truly reborn with this new lineup, and with the vibrant and invigorating new music we made together. We are weaving together the sonic touchstones we are known for while exploring new ones.”
With “FROM ZERO” the band strives to instil the purest energy from its past, present and future. The new era has officially begun.
