Threaded pipe sealant
Easy-to-use thread sealant for threads
– For quick sealing of water, gas and
compressed air systems
- Thread made of multiple polyamide fibres with factory-applied coating
- For sealing threaded components (to ISO 7-1) – for example pipe joints and fittings with tapered/cylindrical threads
- Metal threaded connections: maximum size 4"
- Plastic threaded connections: maximum size 1S"
- Possibility of adjustments up to 45°
Approvals: The product has been tested and certified for compliance with EN 751-2 for sealant class ARp. On this basis, the corresponding approval has been issued by DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water). The product is approved for use in drinking water pipes (cold and domestic hot). Test certificate from TZW (German Technologiezentrum Wasser) in accordance with the guidelines of UBA (German Federal Environment Agency).
Resistance: Resistant to gases of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd families (3rd family only in gas phase), hot and cold water, gas condensates and compressed air. Not suitable for use in systems with pure oxygen and/or oxygen-enriched fluids, chlorine, strong oxidisers and diesel or kerosene fuels. Not suitable for pipe materials made of polyphenylsulfone (PPSU).
Field of application: The Tangit Uni-Lock threaded pipe sealant is a general-purpose sealant for threaded pipes. It is used for sealing threaded components (ISO 7-1) – for example, pipe joints and fittings with tapered/cylindrical threads on Tangit Uni-Lock. It can be used for water supply pipes for cold and hot water (up to 130 °C) as well as gas pipes. The thread is particularly suitable for threaded connections requiring quick sealing after installation and
possible slight adjustments before use.
Metal threaded connections: maximum size 4".
Plastic threaded connections: maximum size
1.5".
Preparing the pipe thread: The thread of metal connections must be cleaned with a brush if necessary. It is recommended to roughen the thread of metal connections – for example with a hacksaw – before wrapping it with the thread sealant.
Applying the thread sealant: First place the thread across the thread and then wind it in the direction of the thread (over the transversely placed thread), starting from the end of the pipe. The best result is achieved when the thread grooves are filled without covering the raised parts. The thread can be cut with the cutter provided for this purpose. The thread is wound on a reel inside the bottle. It can therefore be easily pulled out and placed on the thread. The thread must be wound around the thread with a certain tension.
Storage: Bottles must be kept closed before use. For long-term storage, bottles must be kept in a cool and dry place.
Shelf life: The shelf life is at least 60 months from the date of production. The date of production is marked both on the bottle and on the carton of the pack.
CONSUMPTION:
Diameter Number of turns* Maximum number
of pipe (metal) connections
(from 160 m reel)
1/2" 6 – 8 400
3/4" 7 – 9 275
1" 8 – 12 192
1.1/2" 10 – 15 105
2" 15 – 25 57
2.1/2" 20 – 30 34
3" 25 – 35 23
3.1/2" 30 – 40 17
4" 35 – 45 12
* Approximate values. If the threads are not to DIN 2999-1 (ISO 7-1), the number of turns may differ. When sealing plastic threaded connections, the number of turns is doubled.
