Five levels of powerful noise cancellation allow the H95 to handle everything from the hum of home life to the hustle and bustle of travel. Simply turn the wheel on the earcup to get it just right. When the noise changes, it adapts to match – keeping you in the moment, as you should be.

Active noise cancellation (ANC)
It uses a noise cancellation system to reduce unwanted background noise.
The system relies on microphones that “listen” to sounds outside and inside the earpiece, an ANC chipset that inverts sound waves, and a speaker in the earpiece that cancels out external sound by neutralizing sound waves. A bit like taking +2 outside and adding -2 inside to make zero.

Active noise cancellation can be handled by the ANC chipset using either:

A forward-feed ANC system has a microphone that is placed on the outside of the earpiece
A closed-loop ANC system has a microphone that is placed on the inside of the earpiece
hybrid ANC system is a combination of feedforward and feedback ANC system

Traveling with ANC
Whether you want to spend your commute catching up on a podcast, listening to your favorite album, or simply blocking out the noise around you so you can enjoy the ride in silence, headphones with ANC will help you get there. Enabling ANC on your headphones will drain more battery power. So if you don’t care much about noise when you’re on a long trip, you can turn ANC off to save battery life. The best choice for flying would be headphones with hybrid ANC, as they will work on both low-frequency noises – like the deep rumble of an airplane – and higher frequencies, like human voices, helping you tune out of a crowded plane and into your own personal soundscape.
